Democracy Day: President Donates Eco-Friendly Buses to Three Kano Universities

Kano, Nigeria — Students of Bayero University Kano (BUK), Northwest University Kano, and Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education (YUMSFUE) have received brand-new eco-friendly buses from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of activities marking this year's Democracy Day celebration.

The buses were officially handed over during a ceremony held at the Bayero University Kano campus, where government officials, university administrators, and students gathered to commemorate the occasion.

The initiative is aimed at improving transportation for students, easing mobility challenges on and around the campuses, and promoting the use of cleaner and more sustainable energy sources in public transportation.

Speaking during the event, officials described the donation as part of the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting education and enhancing student welfare across the country. They noted that the deployment of environmentally friendly buses aligns with ongoing efforts to modernize public transport while reducing carbon emissions.

Students and university authorities welcomed the gesture, expressing optimism that the new buses would significantly improve daily commuting, reduce transportation costs, and provide safer and more reliable travel options for thousands of students.

The presentation of the buses formed one of the highlights of the Democracy Day celebrations in Kano State, reflecting the government's focus on investing in education and youth development.

The newly donated buses are expected to commence operations immediately, serving students across the three institutions.
