Wike Threatens Banks, Property Owners Over Turaki-Led PDP Faction

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a strong warning to banks and property owners against dealing with the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) allegedly led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.

Speaking during a media chat in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike declared that any bank which permits the Turaki-led faction to open an account for the sale of PDP nomination forms would face serious consequences.

He also threatened to seal off any building used by the group as a parallel PDP national secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory.

“Any bank that allows Turaki-led PDP to open an account for the sale of nomination forms will be in trouble. I will seal off any house that allows them to use it as the PDP headquarters,” Wike said.

The latest development comes amid the escalating leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party following disputes over the party’s national leadership structure.

The crisis reportedly intensified after a recent Supreme Court ruling which affected the legitimacy of the PDP leadership that emerged from the party’s convention held in Ibadan.

Following the judgment, the PDP Board of Trustees allegedly backed an interim structure linked to Turaki, a move strongly rejected by Wike and his allies.

The FCT minister maintained that only the legally recognised leadership of the party has the authority to operate official bank accounts or conduct activities such as the sale of nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike further argued that any attempt by a rival faction to operate independently amounts to illegality and political fraud.
