Sitting Lawmaker Loses APC Ticket as Mangal’s Son Emerges Consensus Candidate in Katsina
A major political shake-up has unfolded within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, as a sitting member of the House of Representatives, Sani Aliyu Danlami, has lost his party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Danlami, who represents Katsina Central Federal Constituency and is currently serving his second term, failed to secure the APC nomination following a high-level internal agreement among party stakeholders.
In a surprising turn, Abba Mangal, son of prominent businessman Dahiru Mangal, emerged as the party’s consensus candidate after extensive consultations.
According to reports, the decision followed two days of intense deliberations involving party leaders, aspirants, and their supporters. Other contenders in the race included Lawal Amadu Joka, Haruna Maiwada, Ibrahim Ali Guguwa, among others.
Despite the unexpected outcome, Danlami has accepted the decision of the party and urged his supporters to remain calm and avoid any form of unrest.
