Power Play Before 2027: Tinubu's CoS Gbajabiamila Handed Control of APC Primaries

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to supervise the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The directive also assigns Ibrahim Masari, the President’s political adviser, to work alongside Gbajabiamila in monitoring the primaries for National Assembly positions, including the Senate and House of Representatives, across the country.

According to sources, the oversight team will engage extensively with APC state governors, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), as well as key leaders of the National Assembly, including the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Their mandate includes coordinating consultations aimed at ensuring a smooth, transparent, and credible primary election process within the ruling party.

The team is also expected to hold strategic discussions with state party leaders and governors to foster consensus and minimize internal disputes, thereby strengthening the party’s preparations for the 2027 polls.

This move underscores the administration’s focus on internal party cohesion and effective electoral planning as political activities gradually intensify nationwide.
