Kano Government Awards ₦23 Billion Contract for Construction of 49 New Secondary Schools

The Kano State Government has signed a contract worth over ₦23 billion for the construction of 49 new secondary schools across the 44 local government areas of the state under the AGILE programme.

The massive education project is aimed at improving access to quality secondary education and strengthening learning infrastructure across the state, particularly for young students in underserved communities.

According to the government, the initiative falls under the AGILE programme, a strategic education intervention designed to enhance school enrollment, reduce overcrowding in classrooms, and provide a better learning environment for students.

Officials said the project would ensure that each local government benefits from the development, while some areas are expected to receive more than one school based on population and educational needs.

The move has been described as one of the largest investments in the education sector by the current administration, with expectations that the new schools will boost academic development and create more opportunities for thousands of students across Kano State.
