Zamfara Assembly Suspends Two LG Chairmen Over Alleged Misuse of Funds

Zamfara State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, has suspended two Local Government Chairmen—Umar Faru Nasarawa of Bukkuyum and Mannir Muazu Haidara of Kaura Namoda—over allegations of violating the law and misappropriating public funds.

Deputy Chairmen have been ordered to manage the councils’ day-to-day affairs pending the outcome of investigations. Lawmakers expressed full support for the move during today’s session.

The United States has formally withdrawn from the World Health Organization (WHO), a move that strips the UN health agency of one of its largest financial contributors and marks a major shift in global health diplomacy. The withdrawal follows an executive order signed a year ago by US President Donald Trump, who repeatedly accused the WHO of being overly “China-centric” in its handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.
