Cross River Records New COVID-19 Case — Health Commissioner

The Cross River State Government has confirmed the detection of a new case of Covid-19  in the state, raising renewed public health concerns.

The development was disclosed on Tuesday by the State Commissioner for Health, Henry Ayuk, during a press briefing with journalists.

According to reports by the (NAN), the newly confirmed patient is a 53-year-old Chinese national working with in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Ayuk explained that the individual arrived in Nigeria on March 17 and later began to exhibit symptoms consistent with the virus, prompting medical authorities to conduct tests that subsequently confirmed the infection.

Health officials have assured residents that necessary containment measures, including contact tracing and monitoring, are being implemented to prevent further spread of the disease.

Authorities also urged members of the public to remain vigilant, adhere to health guidelines, and promptly report any suspected symptoms to the nearest health facility.
