At Least 150 Bandits Drown After Boat Capsizes in Sokoto

SABON GIDA, SOKOTO — A tragic incident has reportedly occurred in the Sabon Gida area of Sokoto State, where at least 150 suspected bandits are said to have drowned after a boat carrying them capsized in a body of water.

Zancen Yau247 authoritatively gathered that the incident happened on Saturday evening while the bandits were attempting to cross a river to reach an undisclosed destination.

According to the sources, the boat—believed to be carrying a large number of armed bandits—overturned while they were midway through the journey. The sudden capsizing caused all occupants to be thrown into the water unexpectedly.

Preliminary reports indicate that most of those onboard were unable to survive, while a few reportedly attempted to save themselves in the deep waters, although their survival has not been confirmed.

However, as of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from security agencies or the Sokoto State Government confirming the number of casualties or providing full details about the incident.

Security experts believe the incident could represent a significant setback for bandit operations in the region, particularly if it is confirmed that many of those who drowned were active members of armed criminal groups.
