Zamfara Breaks New Ground as Gov. Lawal Commissions Landmark Projects in Anka

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has reiterated his administration’s resolve to place the state on the path of sustainable development as he commissioned a series of key projects in Anka Local Government Area on Tuesday. The governor described the projects as part of a broader agenda to rebuild critical infrastructure, strengthen governance, and improve the living standards of residents across the state.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremonies, Lawal said his government was executing projects that directly address long-standing developmental gaps. He noted that the new facilities represent his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and ensuring that every part of Zamfara benefits from purposeful leadership.

List of Projects Commissioned

The governor opened four major projects—each designed to boost governance, enhance community life and stimulate economic activities within Anka and surrounding areas.

1. Reconstructed Emir’s Palace

One of the highlights of the day was the unveiling of the newly reconstructed and fully renovated Emir’s Palace in Anka. The governor said the project was meant to restore honour to traditional institutions, which he described as custodians of culture, peace and social stability.

He emphasized that supporting traditional leadership remains a key part of his administration’s development strategy, especially in communities where local institutions are central to governance and conflict resolution.

2. Anka–Abbare Road Project

Governor Lawal also flagged off the commencement of construction work on the Anka–Abbare Road, a long-awaited infrastructure expected to ease movement, open up rural communities, and strengthen local commerce.

He remarked that road connectivity remains one of the biggest catalysts for economic expansion, noting that improved access will support farmers, traders, and small businesses across the local government area.

3. Anka Local Government Secretariat

Another completed project commissioned by the governor is the new Anka Local Government Secretariat complex. The building is expected to provide a conducive and efficient working environment for civil servants and enhance service delivery at the grassroots.

According to the governor, revitalizing local government structures is essential to ensuring that development efforts reach citizens more effectively.

4. Hisbah and Community Protection Guards Offices

To further strengthen community security and support peace-building efforts, Governor Lawal commissioned the offices for Hisbah and the Community Protection Guards. The facilities will serve as operational bases for local security actors working with government agencies to maintain law and order.

He stressed that security remains one of the top priorities of his administration, adding that expanding infrastructure for community-based security outfits is part of a larger plan to stabilize the state.

Additional Projects Underway

In addition to the commissioned projects, Lawal inspected ongoing work on the reconstruction of the SAFE School in Anka, reinforcing his administration’s drive toward providing safe, modern and well-equipped learning environments. He described education as a cornerstone of development and promised to continue investing heavily in the sector.

Governor Lawal appealed to traditional rulers, community stakeholders and residents to protect and maintain the newly launched facilities. He said that development can only be sustained when citizens take ownership of public infrastructure.

“Our administration is determined to transform Zamfara, but we cannot do it alone,” he said. “We need the cooperation of our communities to sustain these gains and support our long-term development vision.”

More Commissioning to Follow

Lawal also disclosed that more projects are nearing completion across various local governments and will be commissioned soon. He assured the people that his administration remains focused on delivering impactful projects that address insecurity, education gaps, infrastructure deficits and economic challenges.
