Wike Fires First Shot for 2027, Launches Radio Station to Power Tinubu’s Re-Election Battle

In a major political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has unveiled a new radio station, Majority FM 89.5, to bolster the re-election efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Rivers State. The station is located within the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ headquarters in Port Harcourt.

The launch of the media outfit comes amid intensified mobilisation for President Tinubu’s second-term bid across the South-South region. The facility also houses a situation room, operational vehicles, and offices designed to coordinate grassroots political activities in the state.

Speaking during the commissioning, Wike emphasised that Rivers State does not require the backing of the sitting governor to rally support for President Tinubu, insisting that the political structure already in place is strong enough to deliver victory in 2027.

“We have all it takes to secure Rivers for President Tinubu. Mobilisation does not depend on the governor; it depends on committed stakeholders who understand the mission and are ready to work,” Wike said.

The former Rivers governor noted that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors movement comprises lawmakers, local government chairmen, political leaders across party lines, and influential grassroots coordinators who are united in their support for Tinubu.

According to Wike, the establishment of Majority FM 89.5 will serve as a central communication tool to disseminate campaign messages and engage communities across the state’s 23 local government areas. He described the initiative as a strategic media asset that would strengthen political outreach and counter opposition narratives ahead of the 2027 polls.

Political observers say the move further signals Wike’s deepening influence in Rivers politics and his evolving role within the national political landscape. The radio station is expected to play a key role in shaping public opinion and driving voter mobilisation in the coming months.

With the commissioning of Majority FM, the Renewed Hope bloc in Rivers has officially kicked off what many see as the earliest and most coordinated re-election groundwork for any presidential hopeful in the 2027 race.
