Ramadan Relief: Sokoto Workers Get February Pay Ahead of Time

In a move aimed at easing financial pressure on residents ahead of the holy month, , the Governor of Sokoto state, Ahmad Aliyu has approved and commenced the early payment of February 2026 salaries to all state workers and pensioners.

The state government began crediting workers’ accounts from Friday, 13 February 2026, ensuring that civil servants have the resources needed to prepare adequately for Ramadan, expected to begin in the coming days.

According to an official statement from Government House, the payment covered employees across the state civil service, local government councils, Local Government Education Authorities (LGEA), and retirees under the pension scheme.

Governor Aliyu explained that the decision was taken to enable Muslim families to enter the fasting period with ease, given the rising cost of essential goods and the financial demands associated with Ramadan. He further urged workers to reciprocate the gesture with renewed dedication, punctuality, and productivity in their respective offices.

Workers across the state have expressed gratitude, describing the early salary payment as a timely intervention that will help them meet critical needs, including food supplies, charity obligations, and general preparations for the holy month.

The Sokoto administration has, in recent months, adopted a pattern of early salary disbursements before major religious periods, a strategy aimed at supporting household welfare and maintaining public morale.
