Police Arrest Notorious Gang Leader in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious gang leader who has long terrorised residents across several communities within the state. The suspect, identified as Sunusi, popularly known as Dawa Dan Kamsusi, was apprehended alongside nine other alleged gang members during a coordinated security operation.

According to police authorities, the arrest followed months of intelligence gathering and repeated complaints from residents over violent attacks, intimidation, and public disturbances linked to the gang. Security personnel launched a targeted operation after tracking the movements of the suspects across hotspots known for gang activities.

Police spokespersons confirmed that the suspects were found in possession of dangerous weapons and other items believed to have been used in their operations. The arrest, they said, forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks responsible for a series of street violence and unrest in the metropolis.

The police command described the operation as “a major breakthrough in restoring peace and order in Kano State.” Residents had long expressed fear over the activities of the gang, which was said to have been involved in multiple violent clashes, harassment of civilians, and disruption of business activities.

Authorities also noted that investigations are underway, with the suspects expected to face prosecution once preliminary inquiries are concluded. The police reiterated their commitment to intensifying patrols and surveillance to curb criminal activities within the state.

Community leaders and residents have since lauded the arrest, describing it as a welcome development that will help restore calm in areas previously plagued by gang violence.
