Kano State Government Urges Federal Government to Modernize Market Infrastructure Amid Growing Challenges
In Kano, Governor Abubakar Yusuf has appealed to the federal government for urgent intervention after a fire broke out at the Singer Market, causing significant damage to properties worth millions of naira. The blaze, which began at around 4 p.m. on Saturday, continued well into the night despite efforts from state and federal fire services.
Governor Yusuf called for modern firefighting equipment, including aerial support, to prevent such incidents in the future and improve response times, particularly in major commercial centers like Singer Market.
This crisis added urgency to the governor's call for federal resources to support local authorities in improving emergency response systems, emphasizing that such incidents pose a direct threat to the livelihoods of traders and the local economy.
