Governor Dauda Approves Early February Salary, Pension Payments Ahead of Ramadan

As Muslim communities across Nigeria prepare for the start of Ramadan, the Governor of Zamfara state, Dauda Lawal has approved the immediate payment of February 2026 salaries and pensions to all state workers and retirees.

The directive, issued through the Office of the State Accountant-General, ensures that civil servants and pensioners receive their entitlements early enough to make financial preparations for the holy month of fasting.

According to the governor, the move is part of his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of workers and easing the economic pressure many households face ahead of Ramadan. He noted that timely support is crucial, especially during a period when families make additional expenses on food, charity, and religious activities.

Governor Lawal also encouraged citizens to use the blessed month for prayers, seeking peace, unity, and development across the state. He emphasized that Zamfara needs collective spiritual efforts to overcome its ongoing security and economic challenges.

The decision has drawn positive reactions from workers and pensioners, many of whom described the early payment as a welcome relief amid rising living costs.

With Ramadan just days away, the gesture positions the Zamfara government as one of the earliest in the region to roll out welfare-driven financial actions for its workforce.
