DSS Re-Arrests El-Rufai Moments After EFCC Release — Fresh Phone-Hacking Charge Emerges

In a dramatic turn of events, operatives of the DSS have re-arrested former Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, only minutes after he was released by EFCC, on Wednesday evening. 

EFCC Arrested Him Earlier Over Corruption Allegations

El-Rufai was initially taken into EFCC custody on Monday over allegations of corruption linked to activities during his tenure as governor of Kaduna State. He was detained for two days as investigators examined fresh intelligence said to contain serious financial irregularities.

Reports indicated that the anti-graft agency had not yet concluded its inquiry, but released him pending further investigation.

DSS Sweeps In With New, More Sensitive Accusation
