Canada is reeling after a horrifying mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, where 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar killed his mother and stepbrother before storming a secondary school, murdering a teacher and five students. More than 25 others were wounded, including a 12-year-old girl now fighting for her life.
The rampage — one of the deadliest in Canadian history — ended when the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot. Prime Minister Mark Carney has canceled travel plans and will visit the devastated town as Canada grapples with renewed debates on gun laws, mental health failures, and school safety.
