BREAKING: Kano Magistrate Court Orders Remand of 3 Civil Defence Officers Over Alleged Killing

Remanded Over Alleged Killing in Fagge

A Magistrate Court (Court No. 52) in Kano has ordered three officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to be remanded in prison custody until the 23rd of next month, as proceedings continue over the alleged killing of a young man in Fagge two months ago.

The officers remanded are Zahraddin Muhammad, Abubakar Ya’u, and Abbas Sagir — all of whom are being investigated by the police for their suspected involvement in the death of the victim, who was reportedly beaten to death by his colleagues.

Family members of the deceased accused the Civil Defence officers at the Fagge office of killing their relative over allegations of mishandling or illegal sale of funds. However, the Civil Defence authorities had earlier denied any wrongdoing by their officers, insisting that investigations would reveal the true circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case is expected to resume on the 23rd of next month, when the court will decide on the bail applications and review further findings regarding the cause of the young man's death.
