BREAKING: IMo Police Uncover Terror Graveyard, Arrest 15 in Major Crackdown
The Commissioner of Police said the coordinated offensive—carried out with support from other security agencies and local intelligence sources—exposed a sprawling network responsible for terrorism, kidnapping, murder, armed robbery and community intimidation across several parts of the state.
The operation led to the rescue of a kidnapped victim and a trafficked child, and the recovery of a large cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, a LAR rifle, pump-action guns, hundreds of rounds of live ammunition, improvised explosives, machetes, walkie-talkies, laptops, mobile phones, counterfeit currency, suspected Indian hemp, criminal charms and IPOB/ESN insignia.
The most chilling discovery emerged after the arrest of five notorious kidnap kingpins from Orsuobodo in Oguta LGA: Chinonso Ugochukwu (popularly known as Bob Adam), Chibuzor Okafor, Ohaka Chukwuka, Ezekwe Chizoba and Ezekwe Chinyere.
Police said the group had long terrorised communities with kidnappings and executions. During interrogation, Bob Adam—described as an IPOB/ESN sub-commander—allegedly confessed and led officers into a forest where several bodies were exhumed from shallow graves, revealing what investigators called a “killing field.”
Among the corpses recovered were those believed to be Pastor Chima, Jeremiah and Ugochi Nwabueze, all from Orsuobodo. The discovery has sparked intense public outrage and deepened community grief.
The crackdown widened further when the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested Amucha Nkemdirim Innocent and Michael Okafor in Ehime Mbano LGA, recovering pump-action guns and ammunition. The duo reportedly admitted to the killing of Onyebuchi Anthony Njoku and the kidnapping of two other victims, allegedly held at an IPOB camp in Okigwe.
In another operation, police arrested Chinaemerem Ogamba in Oru-East LGA over the killing of one Izanga. A locally made pistol was recovered from him, and he allegedly confessed to being a member of the proscribed group, claiming the murder was carried out in retaliation.
Describing the operation as a major turning point in Imo’s fight against violent criminality, the Commissioner of Police commended his officers’ bravery and vowed that criminal elements “will find no hiding place” in the state.
He assured residents that rescue efforts are ongoing and said all arrested suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
