APC Invites Dead General — Chaos Erupts
The invitation, circulated ahead of a scheduled stakeholders’ meeting with Governor , listed prominent figures expected to attend — but the public was stunned to find names that should never have appeared.
Among those listed was Major General Edward Ushie Unimna (rtd.), a respected military officer who died and was buried in 2025, as well as Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, a sitting Supreme Court Justice who is constitutionally non-partisan.
The blunder immediately triggered outrage across Cross River and on social media, with many questioning how the party could publish such a list without basic verification. Critics described the error as “careless,” “disrespectful,” and “a sign of administrative confusion.”
Facing mounting backlash, the APC state leadership quickly issued an apology, admitting the names were included “in error” and announcing that the invitation list had been withdrawn and corrected.
The party also apologized to the family of the late General and to Justice Agim for what it called “an unintended oversight.”
The controversy has raised fresh concerns about internal coordination within the party, especially as Cross River APC continues efforts to consolidate its political structure ahead of upcoming engagements.
