ADC Declares Alleged Parallel Leadership in Kaduna Illegal, Warns Public
Kaduna, Jan. 24, 2026 — The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kaduna State chapter, has declared the activities of Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, Idris Musa and a few others parading themselves as leaders of the party in the state as illegal and unauthorized.
In a statement issued to journalists in Kaduna on Thursday, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Alex Tagwai, accused the group of attempting to destabilize the ADC in the state, alleging that they are being sponsored by “enemies of the party” who are pushing for a one-party system in Kaduna.
The party further claimed that the individuals were allegedly holding a parallel structure in the name of the ADC for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, the party said it has evidence to support the allegation and vowed that the individuals would be exposed at the appropriate time.
Reacting to resolutions reportedly issued after what it described as an “illegal and unauthorized meeting” held on Wednesday, the ADC leadership strongly condemned the action, saying it was a calculated attempt to defraud party members and mislead the public.
The statement reaffirmed that Elder Patrick Ambut remains the legitimate and duly recognized Chairman of the ADC in Kaduna State, as acknowledged by both the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the party’s National Secretariat.
The party called on Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, Idris Musa and others to desist from what it termed “entrepreneurial politicking” aimed at undermining the party in favour of the APC.
“Our findings show that these individuals are being paid to cause confusion and destabilize the party,” the statement said, adding that security agencies have been alerted to their alleged illegal activities.
The party also indicated it was prepared to take necessary legal steps to challenge what it described as impersonation and illegality.
Describing the group as “impostors and detractors,” the ADC said they did not deserve public attention, warning that members of the public who rely on them risk being misled.
The party also clarified its leadership structure in the state, affirming Ummi Cooler Lu’ulu’un Zazzau as the legally recognized Women Leader and Hon. Alex Tagwai as the duly appointed State Publicity Secretary. It warned one Joyce Sim Adamu Gambo to stop parading herself as the Women Leader of the party in Kaduna State.
On the issue of court orders, the ADC stated that no court order had granted Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha the authority to assume leadership of the party in the state. According to the party, the Ex-Parte Motion Notice obtained by the individuals did not direct Mustapha to act as Chairman or perform any function on behalf of the party, describing any such claim as “null and void.”
The statement further explained that the Ex-Parte order was temporary in nature and not a final judgment, adding that the individuals involved had earlier been expelled from the party and failed to challenge their expulsion before seeking the restraining order.
The ADC expressed appreciation to the party’s National Secretariat for its support and guidance, while also thanking party members and supporters in Kaduna State. The party assured its supporters of stability and “better days ahead” as it works to strengthen its structure in the state.
