Kwankwaso Receives ADC Membership Card, Sparks Fresh Political Realignment Ahead of 2027

Former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has formally received his membership card as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a development widely seen as a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso received the party membership card during a gathering attended by his supporters, where he stated that his decision to join the ADC represents a deliberate move to create a new political pathway capable of uniting Nigerians and delivering meaningful change in governance.

Speaking shortly after receiving the card, the former presidential candidate emphasized that his entry into the ADC is driven by a commitment to building a strong political platform that will provide Nigerians with credible leadership, prioritizing public welfare and national development.

He also urged members of the Kwankwasiyya movement to remain united, disciplined, and focused, noting that the time has come to chart a new political direction for the country.

Political analysts have suggested that Kwankwaso’s defection to the ADC could significantly strengthen the party, particularly in Northern Nigeria, where he commands a substantial support base. They noted that the move may alter political calculations ahead of the next general elections, given his enduring influence in national politics.

The African Democratic Congress has continued to attract new members from various parts of the country as it intensifies efforts to consolidate its structure and position itself competitively for upcoming elections.
