BREAKING: Dangote Refinery Slashes Petrol Price to ₦774 per Litre

In a major development that could reshape Nigeria’s downstream oil market, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a fresh reduction in the ex-depot price of petrol, cutting the gantry rate to ₦774 per litre.

The refinery communicated the revised price to petroleum marketers earlier today, marking a significant ₦25 drop from its previous rate of approximately ₦799 per litre. Industry pricing platforms, including petroleumprice.ng, have already updated their systems to reflect the new benchmark.

According to industry analysts, the move signals a strategic price adjustment by the refinery amid evolving market dynamics and increasing competition in the domestic petroleum supply chain.

While the reduction is expected to ease cost pressures on marketers, experts caution that pump prices may not immediately fall to ₦774 per litre, as retail prices will still depend on transportation expenses, logistics costs, and individual marketers’ margins. Nonetheless, the latest cut increases the likelihood of downward adjustments at filling stations in the coming days.

The Dangote Refinery—Africa’s largest single-train oil processing facility—has been at the centre of national attention since it began supplying refined petrol to the local market. Today’s price slash reinforces its growing influence on petroleum pricing and supply stability across Nigeria.

More updates to follow as the situation develops.
