🔥 Karachi Erupts in Fury After Killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader — Six Dead in Attack on U.S. Consulate
Violent protests have rocked the Pakistani city of Karachi after demonstrators, enraged by the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, stormed the U.S. Consulate Karachi on Sunday.
The unrest followed international reports that joint strikes by United States and Israel were responsible for the death of the long-time Iranian leader — a development that has triggered shockwaves across the Middle East and South Asia.
Witnesses said hundreds of demonstrators, many from the Shiite community, marched toward the consulate chanting anti-U.S. and anti-Israeli slogans. What began as an emotional procession quickly escalated into chaos as protesters:
Smashed windows and gates around the consulate perimeter
Set parts of the exterior area on fire, sending plumes of smoke over the district
Clashed with police and paramilitary forces, who responded with tear gas and warning shots
Authorities confirmed that six people were killed in the clashes, while several others were rushed to hospitals with gunshot wounds, inhalation injuries, and trauma from stampedes.
Police and Rangers battled for hours to push the crowd back from the highly fortified diplomatic zone. Sirens, explosions from tear-gas canisters, and flames from burning debris turned the area into a battleground.
Security officials said their priority was to prevent protesters from breaching the inner compound of the consulate, warning that the situation could have been “far more catastrophic.”
🌍 The Karachi violence is part of a wave of demonstrations spreading across the region after the dramatic killing of Iran’s supreme leader. Protests have erupted in parts of Iraq and other Pakistani cities as tensions soar between Iran, the United States, and Israel.
Analysts warned that the unrest might continue in the coming days as emotions remained high and geopolitical tensions deepened.
